We perform thermal conductivity measurements utilizing the transient plane heat source (hot disc) method. The TPS thermal constants analyzer allows us to utilize a very thin, nickel spiral sensor for very precise and sensitive temperature measurements. The polymer melt cell setup is ideal for testing thermoplastic materials. Intimate contact of the sensor and the sample is critical; the melt cell provides a constant force on the sample in order to maintain this contact through various thermal environments as the sample expands, contracts, and experiences thermal transitions. The result is a very accurate thermal conductivity measurement of our thermoplastic materials from room temperature up through melt processing temperature ranges.
